Pointer SS09
Spring and summer, sun or rain, Pointer days are here again. SS09 is all shipshape and raring to go, striding out smartly in crisp, timeless neutrals and rich blocks of colour reminiscent of the squash court, yacht club and croquet lawn. What to expect from season eight? Refinement and consolidation. Boat shoes, desert boots and loafers, all with the soul of a sneaker. Stitched-down traditionals and click-three-times heels. Textural juxtapositions of Nubuck, suede and canvas; gum soles and contrasting linings; colour palettes of Cream and Honey Gold, deep Burgundy and pale Wolf, valiant Mysterioso Purple and the Fog Grey of a morning mist off the sea.
Across the existing line, variety is key; most styles add a colourway or three. Rock-on purple for the Tamzig, a navy and white boating makeover for the Mathieson, dusty summer-light beiges and tans for the Judy, Nita, Barajas and Crago. Not only are fifteen colourways and two heights now available in the standard Seeker III and ten colourways offered in the Soma, but this season brings the introduction of alternate shapes for both models. The new Seeker IV and Soma II boast a trim toe shape, padded arch support, and separate men’s and women’s size breaks, with all-white sole options and block colour suedes a throwback to the basketball courts of hazy summers past.
SS09’s signature print is a flush of black and white cards, companion to the new season’s T shirt line from the Pointer art family – a collective tribute to the board games of the 70s.
