Carhartt Inc. was established in 1889 in Detroit, Michigan USA by Hamilton Carhartt. For over 119 years Carhartt has been dedicated to its mission of providing Best In Class apparel for the active worker.
Standing for rugged construction, innovative design and exceptional standards of quality, durability and comfort, Carhartt workwear has become a legend in the skilled trades.
Since 1994 Carhartt has been distributed in Europe through Work In Progress. Work In Progress started by distributing the regular collection from Carhartt Inc. In 1997 in response to overwhelming demand the first selection of pieces made especially for the European market were added to the regular collection and were showcased at the first dedicated Carhartt store in the world on Covent Gardens’ Neal St.Carhartt has since grown to be one of the leading brands within the European Streetwear scene and still dominates the American workwear market. 2009 sees the opening of the fiftieth Carhartt store in Tokyo.
